FIG STRUDELS
Ingredients:
For the dough:
- 100g “Slavuj” flour
- 100g of whole wheat flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1 large apple, cooked and mashed
For the filling:
- 300g of fresh figs
- 1/3 cup water
- 2 tablespoons of coconut sugar
- 2 tablespoons of chia seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
Recipe from: “Ivana Plants”
Preparation:
- Put the figs in a blender with water and blend for a short time, just a few seconds, to avoid over-mushing the figs.
▪ Place the blended figs in a pot and cook them. Once the mixture in the pot starts to boil, add coconut sugar and cinnamon. Continue to cook the mixture, stirring it constantly, until it thickens.
▪ Once the filling has reached the desired thickness, add the chia seeds to the mixture and mix well. Allow the mixture to cool down and further harden.
▪ To prepare the dough, start by mixing all the dry ingredients together in a bowl. Then, add the mashed apple to the mixture. Knead the dough using your hands and, if needed, add a small amount of water or additional flour to achieve the desired consistency.
▪ Roll out the dough into a rectangular shape and then cut it vertically into four equal strips.
▪ Place the filling in the center of each strip, then fold the edges of the dough over the filling, joining them in the middle and gently pressing with your fingers to seal. Flip the strudel over and cut it into pieces approximately 6 cm long. - Arrange the strudels on a baking tray and bake them for approximately 20 minutes at a temperature of 200°C.
Enjoy your meal!
“SLAVUJ” INTEGRAL EMMER FLOUR
Emmer is an excellent source of fiber. Fiber, in turn, plays a crucial role in regulating the digestive system. So it’s no surprise that fennel has been shown to improve digestion in humans. Including emmer in your diet may be particularly beneficial if you have irritable bowel syndrome with constipation or other indigestion.
